Understanding the process of machining products
Jun 20,2020
The consumption process of machines in a machining factory refers to the entire process from raw materials to finished products. For machine consumption, it includes the transportation and storage of raw materials, preparation for consumption, manufacturing of blanks, processing and heat treatment of parts, assembly and debugging of products, painting, and packaging.
The content of the consumption process is very common. Modern enterprises organize and guide consumption using the principles and methods of systems engineering, viewing the consumption process as a consumption system with inputs and outputs. In the consumption process, any change to the shape, size, position, and nature of the consumption object that turns it into waste or semi-waste is called the process. It is a major part of the consumption process.
The process in a machining factory can be divided into casting, forging, stamping, welding, machining, assembly, and other processes. The machining process generally refers to the sum of the machining process of parts and the assembly process of machines, while other processes are called auxiliary processes, such as transportation, storage, power supply, and equipment maintenance. The process is composed of one or several sequential operations, and an operation consists of several steps. The operation is the fundamental unit that makes up the machining process.
An operation refers to a (or a group of) worker(s) continuously completing a part of the process on the same workpiece (or simultaneously on several workpieces) at a machine tool (or a work location). The main characteristic of an operation is that it does not change the processing object, equipment, and operator, and the content of the operation is completed continuously. A step is the movement of the cutting tool, also called the working stroke, which is the completion of one step of processing by the cutting tool on the processing surface under the conditions of unchanged processing surface, processing tool, and cutting amount.
When formulating the machining process for a machining factory, it is necessary to determine how many operations the workpiece will go through and the sequence of these operations. Listing only the names of the main operations and their processing sequence in a simple process is called the process route. The formulation of the process route is the overall planning of the process, with the main task being to select the processing methods for each surface, determine the processing sequence for each surface, and the number of operations in the entire process.
