The role of sensors in the processing of precision mechanical components

With the development of the times, it is becoming increasingly intelligent. In traditional processing industries such as precision mechanical component processing, modern high-tech applications are also very numerous. The purpose of sensor detection in the machining cutting process is to optimize the consumption rate of the cutting process, shaping costs, or the removal rate of (metal) materials.
The purposes of sensor detection in the cutting process include the cutting force and its variations, cutting process chatter, the contact between the tool and the workpiece, the state of chips during cutting, and the identification of the cutting process. Important sensing parameters include cutting force, cutting process vibration, acoustic emission during the cutting process, and the power of the cutting process motor.
Regarding the operation of machine tools, the main purposes of sensor detection include monitoring and controlling the drive system, bearings and rotation system, temperature, and safety. The sensor parameters include the machine tool's downtime due to faults, the surface roughness and machining accuracy of the workpiece, power, machine tool status, and the flow of cooling lubricants.
In the process of processing precision mechanical components, sensor technology is used for process identification, to determine whether the executed processing procedure meets the requirements for processing the workpiece (or blank); to identify whether the workpiece or blank fed into the machine tool is the required workpiece or blank; and to identify whether the pose of the workpiece installation meets the requirements of the process specifications.
In addition, it is also possible to use workpiece identification and monitoring sensors to detect the processing margin and surface defects of the blank or workpiece. An important aspect of sensor technology in precision mechanical component processing is reducing the accident rate. Nowadays, machine tools are equipped with tool detection sensors that can effectively prevent such incidents.
