Analysis of high precision and plastic deformation in precision machining

In precision machining, diamond grinding wheels are mainly used during the stopping operation process to effectively control the back cutting amount and feed rate to a certain extent. In ultra-precision grinding machines, it is possible to stop the grinding in a ductile manner during operation, which is known as nano-grinding. Even the surface of glass can achieve an optical mirror finish.
From a long-term development perspective, the trend of precision machining and ultra-precision machining is that the manufacturing technology of its equipment is a major strategy and direction for the development of national economies around the world. It is one of the important means for a country's economic development, as well as a long-term plan for a nation to be independent, prosperous, and to maintain stable economic development and technological leadership. The development of technology also places higher demands on precision and ultra-precision machining technologies.
The high efficiency and high precision of precision machining, as well as the ultra-precision machining, can achieve extremely high surface quality and integrity to a certain extent, but it may sacrifice processing efficiency for assurance. When using the drawing method for processing, the maximum deformation force is only 17t, while using the cold extrusion method requires a deformation force of 132t, at which point the unit pressure acting on the cold extrusion die exceeds 2300MPa. In addition to requiring high strength, the mold must also have sufficient impact toughness and wear resistance.
The metal blanks in precision machining undergo intense plastic deformation in the mold, which can raise the mold temperature to around 250℃ to 300℃. Therefore, the mold material requires a certain level of tempering stability. Due to the above conditions, the lifespan of cold extrusion molds is much lower than that of stamping molds.
